This is a complex film about complex people. What were the main themes–the messages that the screenwriter(s), director, and actors have built into the film, and which they want you to take home with you? Go beyond the actual story–the plot–to the characters and their dilemmas, and identify at least three themes that you think are woven in and out of the script. Do you think there is one, dominant theme that wins out over the others? Explain your views, illustrating your thesis–the point you want to make that drives your essay–and bring examples from the film to support your views. Just don’t tell me the story all over again.
